Programmes: ESITC Caen Launches a New OneYear post Graduate Programme

Photo de l'article ESITC Caen has launched a new Specialized Master’s programme in Green Building Materials and Sustainable Development. The degree, approved by the Conference des Grandes Ecoles, was developed to respond to the needs of companies in the sector by emphasizing the latest innovations in building materials and the use of digital simulations to examine case studies and projects. After a year in the programme, which includes a 6-month real-world assignment within a company, graduates with an MS from ESITC Caen will possess expertise in a high-demand area in the civil engineering market.

To meet the needs of new construction projects made necessary by new national and international regulation concerning environmental preservation and energy efficiency, civil engineering companies are in need of more and more specialists in these fields.

For many years, ESITC has been encouraging its engineering students to specialize in the sustainable development sector through the research track offered to 5th year and continuing education engineering students.  The objective is to provide engineers, architects, city planners, contracting authorities and other professionals involved in construction, an opportunity to develop high-level expertise in high-demand fields.
Among ESITC Caen’s corporate partners for this programme are: Saint-Gobain Group, Eiffage Construction of Normandy, Quille (Bouygues Group), Sogea N.O. and Eurovia B.N. (Vinci Group), as well as several small- and medium- sized businesses affiliated with professional organizations.

The MS curriculum comprises 7 modules: sustainable development, sustainable construction, construction materials, Green Building materials, economics of construction, contextual choice of materials and construction principles, as well as an assignment with a company.
Graduates are prepared to be representatives on the national and international level for the implementation of sustainable development practices in construction in all sectors of civil engineering.

Graduates will also be capable of participating in the design of new energy-efficient buildings with minimal environmental impact, as well as the development of alternative, innovative construction materials.
